"The fact is that inside the EU, the UK's global standing is greatly diminished given that we are prohibited from negotiating our own trade deals. How can a country have a true global influence when it cannot agree to such deals on the world stage?

"This is a European Union forging ahead with plans for a military expansion that far from increasing Britain's influence, weakens our independence. President Obama forgets that the more the UK gets pulled into an EU military policy, the more it will diminish the UK's ability to be America's greatest ally.

"This is also a European Union that far from bringing prosperity, has inflicted economic pain with the Euro single currency.

"A backwards-looking, outdated EU in an age of increasing globalisation is not the model by which the UK should seek to maintain global influence. Instead, it is clear to me that an exciting globally focused Britain is one which is outside the EU, able to govern itself, negotiating our own trade deals and dealing with countries right around the world on our own terms."
