More Tory council waste on magician
Tuesday, 8th March 2011
UKIP's Local Government Spokesman Cllr Peter Reeve has slammed Tory-run Cotswold District Council's decision to spend £19,000 on a magician to "motivate" workers.
"With every penny now tight given the state of the country's finances, it seems we can rely on the Tories to entertain themselves by making taxpayers money disappear with the aid of a magic man," said Mr Reeve.
"UKIP's common sense approach to this type of wasteful practise would ensure this type of public sector waste would be stamped out permanently. The quality of those running councils at present must really be called into question."
Cllr Reeve has led by example on Cambridgeshire County and Huntingdon District Council, taking UKIP's local government fights to the belly of the beast.
"Hopefully we will see more UKIP Councillors elected in May to stop this sort of madness. Presently Labour, Conservative and Lib Dem-run Councils up and down the country are providing a poor service that treats taxpayers money as their money. It is not. UKIP fights for the taxpayer."
