Wheeler slams Cameron for 'deceit'
Tuesday, 2nd June 2009
UKIP supporter Stuart Wheeler today attacked David Cameron for continuing to mislead the British public over an EU referendum.
Following the Tory leader's interview on BBC Radio's Today programme, the spread betting millionaire said: "David Cameron is showing contempt for the British people by continuing to be evasive over his so-called 'pledge' to hold a referendum on the EU constitution.
"Despite the efforts of several interviewers, Cameron just will not answer the question of whether he will hold a referendum on the EU constitution if it has already become law by the time he takes power.
"He implies it but, when questioned repeatedly, refuses to be drawn. One can only conclude that he will not hold a referendum in such circumstances and therefore he is practising deceit on the British people, hoping to beguile them into voting for the Tories.
