New figures that show the UK took in more than 566,000 migrants in 2011 alone show that the government is completely failing to bring migrant numbers down, according to UKIP Leader Nigel Farage.
Nigel Farage: "We have as a country always absorbed new migrants extremely well. But these astronomical numbers are shocking and stunning. They are unlike anything we have seen in previous decades.
"With an open door to twenty-six other EU countries, this government has no more of a grip on mass migration into the UK than the previous Labour one.
"It is utterly irresponsible to have more than half a million new migrants flowing in, many completely unrestricted from the rest of the EU. Despite Coalition hand-wringing, the only way we can properly take back control of Britain's borders is to leave the EU."
