Farage throws hat into leadership ring
Friday, 3rd September 2010
Former UKIP Leader Nigel Farage has announced he will stand for the leadership again following the resignation of Lord Pearson of Rannoch.
In a speech to the Party's annual conference in Torquay, Mr Farage said he had given the decision much thought as he was still suffering some ill-effects from his May 6 plane crash.
"But I can provide the Party with the sort of campaigning leadership that it needs to move forward to success," he said.
"I've done the job before and I know what it entails."
Several key Party figures have already declared their intention to stand for the leadership so far, including joint Deputy Leader David Campbell Bannerman, London MEP Gerard Batten and leading economist Professor Tim Congdon.
