New university launch for UKIP

Friday, 24th September 2010

UKIP General Secretary Jonathan Arnott was back at college this week at the Sheffield University Activities Fair where he helped out at the stall put together by the the new Sheffield University UKIP.

Jonathan holds a Master of Mathematics degree from Sheffield University obtained at the age of 19, and enjoyed returning to his former university to help with the campaign.

Jonathan hailed the day as a success, and commented on the recent growth in Young Independence:
“As a party, we have to be serious about attracting young people.  We have the right policies to attract young people – not only our opposition to the undemocratic European Union, but also because of our policies that affect young people, such as opposition to tuition fees and allowing people to call a referendum on issues that are important to them.”

The stall at Sheffield University was organised by Sheffield University UKIP Society Chairman Tom Booker together with Danielle Brannon, Wayne Harling and Cllr Chris Cassidy.

Tom Booker said: “I am delighted that so many students have taken an interest in the UKIP society, taking our literature and reading our booklets.  This encouraging start signals a bright future for Sheffield University UKIP”.

The society’s website, currently under development, will be found at http://www.ukip.union.shef.ac.uk/
