Clark backs Fair Fuel fight
Tuesday, 24th January 2012
Give British hauliers a fair deal – that’s the call from UKIP MEP Derek Clark as the fight on fuel prices shifts up a gear.
Mr Derek Clark has thrown his weight behind the FairFuelUK team, which will meet with MPs in the House of Commons tomorrow (Wednesday).
Hek said: “I am more than delighted to support the Fair Fuel campaign.
“It would help if fuel tax was the same across the EU but it is not, even though we keep on being told the EU is a level playing field.
“It is not, nor is it meant to be. The result is foreign drivers fill up in Calais much cheaper than in the UK, cross the Channel and are able to do a several hundred mile job before returning to Calais and re-fueling, putting UK hauliers out of business.
“An EU working for all its citizens, don't make me laugh. Or, rather, don't make me cry for all our lost jobs.”
FairFuelUK is striving to secure a cut in duty on petrol and diesel and is stepping up its fight as the Budget in March looms closer.
