Wednesday, 22nd February 2012

Legendary funnyman and UKIP supporter Frank Carson has died, aged 85, at his home in Blackpool.

Famous for catchphrases, "It's a cracker!" and "It's the way I tell 'em," Belfast-born Frank had supported the Party for many years and actively urged people to vote UKIP at the last General Election.

UKIP Leader Nigel Farage paid tribute to the beloved comedian upon hearing the news.

"Frank was truly one of the greats and he was hugely popular not just across the nation but throughout the Party," Mr Farage said.

"He leaves a lasting legacy through the laughter he bought to millions and his incredible charity work."

Announcing the news of Frank's death, his family issued a statement saying: "husband, father, Gaga and comedian set off for his final gig today".

"He went peacefully at his home in Blackpool surrounded by his greatest fans - his extended family. We will be taking him home to Belfast to lay him to rest and celebrate his joyful life.

"It's quieter down here now. God help them up there!"
