Lords pressed on EU fat cat salaries
Tuesday, 29th June 2010
Following the shock findings that more than 1,000 Eurocrats earn higher salaries than the British PM, UKIP Leader Lord Pearson is pressing the Government for an explanation.
The research, carried out by the Daily Telegraph, found that 1,023 European fat cats pocketed bigger salaries than David Cameron's annual income of £142,500 but the European Commission admitted the real number of high-earners could be twice as high.
Speaking in the House of Lords, Lord Pearson asked: "Why do we go on sending some £8 billion in cash every year to support these people, who then go on to inflict such ruinous over-regulation on our economy?"
