UKIP East Midlands
About Derek Clark MEP
Wednesday, 3rd June 2009
Derek Clark was voted as an MEP for the East Midlands region in the 2004 European Elections.
In the European Parliament he is on the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs.
His personal statement reads: " I wish to continue my work as an MEP for UKIP by attending Parliament and committee sessions regularly, speaking critically of the EU, voting against EC inspired measures and informing the East Mids membership of issues arising. I will continue to attend the East Midlands Regional Assembly where I am not popular, which concerns me not at all, since I consistently inform members how EU interference damages UK interests. I will continue to visit schools, universities, and events by other organisations, such as the NFU, FSB and local authorities, always putting the UKIP case for withdrawal from the EU. I go to only those social events which seem to offer a chance to make useful contact. I will continue to write to the newspapers and take all opportunities to appear on radio and TV, no matter how inconvenient personally. I have assisted, and will continue assisting, enterprises where I have made the difference: such as Organ Builders, providers of charitable medical aid to the needy in Africa and to mental health provision. I will continue to answer all those constituents who ask for help, some 1000 letters and emails to date, and taking up cases with Government Ministers. "
