Migration figures prove Government is failing the country
Thursday, 24th November 2011
New figures have revealed the UK population rose by more than 250,000 people last year.
The official figures from the Office of National Statistics showed a city the size of Nottingham landed at Dover beach in 2010.
East Midlands UKIP MEP Derek Clark said the Government should now own up and admit it has not got a clue how to deal with the problem.
He said: "For many years now one of the key issues highlighted by the public has been the level of unsustainable migration to the UK.
“For years those concerns and fears have been ignored by Governments and the old political parties.
“People in the real world – not in the politically correct Westminster bubble - know wages are being driven down, property prices are up, and services are put under ever increasing pressure by mass migration.”
He urged to the Government to own up and wake up and added: “It hasn't a clue how to deal with the problem.
“The Government needs to be honest that whilst our migration and asylum rules are set in Brussels, it will never have the power to control it.”
