Derek Clark backs UKIP candidate
Tuesday, 24th January 2012
Leicestershire’s UKIP MEP has urged voters to come out in force and back the party’s Jakob Whiten at the forthcoming Ibstock and Heather by-election.
Derek Clark said Mr Whiten would offer a fresh approach to the needs of the local community.
He said: “I’m delighted to endorse Jakob’s candidacy for the Ibstock and Heather ward.
“As a UKIP candidate he will offer a fresh approach to the local community and its needs.
“And being a UKIP councillor would mean he would not be bound by the sort of tiresome dogma which forces traditional party candidates to be just mouthpieces for their particular party’s out-of-date policies.”
Mr Whiten said: “Rest assured if I’m elected I promise to put the needs of the community first. A vote for me is a vote for common sense.”
If elected on February 16, he vowed to be:
· Be tough on anti-social behaviour and crime.
· Stand up and protect the elderly and vulnerable.
· Stand up to protect youth services.
· Stand up for families and local businesses.
· Let the community decide how he should vote on major issues.
· Hold monthly surgeries.
He will hold a surgery for voters on Saturday, February 4, at the Ibstock Business Centre, from 2pm to 4pm.
