Jack Clarkson: "£40,000 payoff for Thacker insulting to victims"

Commenting on revelations that Joyce Thacker, former director of children’s service at Rotherham Council was paid £40,000 to leave her post, UKIP’s South Yorkshire Police & Crime Commissioner candidate, Jack Clarkson said:

“It is an insult to the victims of Joyce Thacker failures, that she had to be bribed with a £40,000 pay off to leave her post at Rotherham council. She presided over the catastrophic failure of children in the town of Rotherham and should have been sacked with not a penny of compensation. If the woman had a shred of decency, she would refuse the payment, or donate to a charity that is now trying to tackle the problems she help create. ”

“Rotherham council would have been far better spending the £40,000 employing more support or social workers to help ease the burden of victims, rather than further lining the pockets of a women who failed the people and who already has a handsome pension pot to show for her failures. This situation once again highlights how Labour reward failure in our society, rather than tackling the problem itself.”
