Patrick O'Flynn MEP said: "I am delighted to take on these additional responsibilities. Having worked at a senior level in the media for many years, I know the importance of a free and vibrant press that is unafraid to challenge those in authority and a broadcasting sector that upholds its remit of providing high quality and politically balanced programming. I am also passionate about sport and its potential to improve young lives and draw communities together. "
UKIP Leader Paul Nuttall said, "As a former, highly successful media professional, Patrick is committed to ensuring both freedom of the press, but also a media that upholds their responsibilities of fairness and quality.
"As a sports fan, apart from not supporting Liverpool, he knows what he’s talking about and appreciates the life skills that sport can give young people."
