Look who's joined the EU Gravy Train

Tuesday, 23rd February 2010

For the next five years, 24 elected representatives will be the voice of Britain 's local councils and devolved assemblies in Brussels . On 9 February 2010, they took up their work as members of the Committee of the Regions (CoR), the EU's assembly of local and regional representatives, and elected Councillor Gordon Keymer, leader of Tandridge District Council in Surrey , as head of their national delegation.

The Scottish MSP's and Councillors below are the latest group to join the EU Gravy Train as the new UK delegation in the EU regional and local assembly.

Members sit in one of four political groups – EPP, PES (Labour), ALDE (LibDems) and EA (SNP Scotch (supra-) nationalists)– or remain non-aligned (NA).  All the Tories are described as "NA" (non-attached) - now that the Conservatives have distanced themselves from the EPP - but that didn't stop the UK-members electing Keymer as their leader.  So much for Conservative "EU-scepticism"!
