Election Year Wish List

Monday, 1st March 2010

Following on from last week's letter (click here to see)we have more support for common sense policies which only UKIP can offer you. As well as common sense policies, our referendum policy (similar to Switzerland) gets you involved in the decision making process.

WHEN I read George McMillan’s letter last week I shouted “Hear! Hear!” But I’d add to his wish list — End positive discrimination and give jobs to those best qualified to do them, regardless of age, sex or race. Ban CCTV cameras and end intrusive surveillance, ID cards and all other Big Brother tactics. Consign political correctness and excessive health and safety nonsense to the dustbin. Reintroduce capital punishment for certain heinous crimes and corporal punishment in prisons and schools.
Ensure prison is a deterrent by banning “perks” such as television sets and fancy foodstuffs. Ensure prisoners work hard at manual tasks.
Make school uniform compulsory in all state schools. This helps to improve discipline as casual clothes result in casual attitudes.
Sundays should be days of rest with shops and entertainment centres closed to promote church-going.

Miss V. Hemsley-Flint, Sittingbourne.

Mr McMillan ought to stand as Prime Minister at the next general election! I think his common sense policies would guarantee him a landslide victory. Failing that, maybe he could become an adviser to the Government on how to repair “Broken Britain”.

Joyce Brown, Co. Durham.
