Time to boycott the Co-op?

Friday, 6th August 2010

It look like the good old Co-operative Socialist comradeship doesn't extend to our soldiers in uniform.

After years of being unable to be seen in public in uniform, it has only been in the last few years where that restriction has been lifted and our Armed Forces personnel have been encouraged to once more be seen in uniform outside of barracks.

But just hours after he returned home from his tour of Afganistan, staff at the Croydon Co-op refused to serve  Sapper Anthony Walls from 21 Engineer Regiment because he was in uniform. What a kick in the teeth to someone who had put his life on the line " to keep our streets free from terrorism" as the past and present Prime Minister have told us.

If the Co-op refuse to serve our military personnel in uniform then maybe it's time for the British public to stop shopping at the Co-op.
