WALSALL BY-ELECTION

Friday, 18th November 2011

A by-election in Walsall has been called literally days before Christmas.  The poll in the Birchills Leamore Ward will take place on Thursday 22nd December; it is to replace the well liked and long serving Councillor, Joan Barton, who recently died.

The Walsall branch of UKIP have selected branch Treasurer, Liz Hazell as the UK Independence Party candidate.  Liz has stood previously in Birchills Leamore and is a active member of UKIP locally.  She was also the UKIP Parliamentary candidate in the 2010 General Election and serves on various local community committees.

Liz is the mother of two teenage sons and will be supported in her campaign by her husband, Daren.  She said: “here are many issues in Birchills Leamore to campaign on and UKIP offers solutions, not least the UKIP policy of holding referendums on contentious local issues”.
