UKIP Transport Spokesman Jill Seymour MEP has today responded to Michael O’Leary for comments he made in his recent interview on Sky News where he said that “Low air fares are a result of our membership of the single market”. But in a speech in 2011 Michael said “We all need to get the bloody hell out of Europe”.
Mrs Seymour said “It is important to remember the EU and the Single Market are two very different things. Political Union does nothing to keep our air fares low and Michael has said that in the past, on numerous occasions, so why the change of heart?”
“Leaving the EU will do nothing to affect our air fares, the biggest thing we could do to make holidays cheaper is by scrapping air passenger duty which is a tax on holidays. Something that Michael has always supported in the past”
