Why you, your family and your friends should vote UKIP today, by Party Leader Paul Nuttall

There are times in politics, as in life, that it is great to be vindicated.

Last year’s Referendum result was one of those times, where the nation voted clearly to leave the European Union, a position that I and Ukip had been laughed at and derided for only a couple of years earlier.

But there are other times that you wish you were wrong. In the aftermath of the Westminster, Manchester and London Bridge attacks what we have been saying about cutting out the cancer of Islamist terror in our midst has been shown to have been horrifically correct.

For too long, our leaders of all stripes have hidden the truth from the people of this country about the source of this campaign against us and our values, and only now we are hearing a few words of admission. But they are still only words. And we need action to protect us, not more words.

Our Five Pledges to the people of Britain

There are things we can do as a nation to protect ourselves from these fanatics, but it demands greater will than we see in either the Tories or Labour. We need to bar anybody who has gone to Syria or elsewhere to take up arms on behalf of Islamic State from returning.

We need to deport foreign nationals back to their home countries if they are known to subscribe to the tenets of Islamist terror. We need to close down mosques which encourage Islamist teaching of hate against us and our society.

We need to stop Saudi and Qatari funding of Mosques and Islamist institutes. We need to reverse the Tory cuts in police numbers and bring 20,000 police back. We need to consider far greater routine armed police.

We need to support our intelligence services with greater resources and beef up our border guards. And we need to scrap the Human Rights Act and replace it with a British Bill of Rights.

All this was Ukip policy before the attacks, and remains so now. In addition, we need to proscribe the Muslim Brotherhood, as many countries already have.

This is an organisation that promotes hatred and intolerance both at home and abroad. We are pleased the other parties have started to follow our lead, but appalled that it has taken such horrific events to make it happen. Ukip leads the agenda, and its only by voting for Ukip where we are standing that the agenda will continue to be set.
